Busy Weekend on Orcas Island

The San Juan County Textile Guild had their bi-annual retreat on Orcas Island this weekend.  The days were full of numerous mini workshops, including silk scarf dyeing, mandalas,  felted flowers, button bracelet, nature walk, and stitched cards. I took tubular bead crochet (the mystery is resolved!!!) and drop spindle spinning, and taught the Turk's Head Trivet.

But the very best of the weekend was getting to know 20 other guild members so much more and viewing all of their amazing talents.  We did have time to work on our own projects, so I crocheted a chemo hat to donate:

  (Pattern is free on ravelry.com)

And I finished a class basket...potentially for teaching on a cruise, but definitely fitting for life in the Salish Sea: "The Catch"

Productive + informative + making new friends + appreciating so many talents...... priceless!
